Bezel and guages progress pic

About have the bezel done. Need to get the wiper and headlights letters outlined in silver and wire it up. I think the white faced gauges will look awesome against the white dash.

Used a couple LED's from Radio Shack for the turn signal lights.

Got the dash bezel from Barn9 for a coule bucks + lunch. Couple coats of paint and it was looking good.

Looking good!

Those are easy to read gauges and I like the layout.

My favorite gauge is in the lower left corner!. Looks great!!!!

Ackattack 09-09-2003 10:19 AM

Don't forget to put a bright light indicator on there. I used a little LED from radio shack for mine.

griesel72 09-09-2003 10:25 AM

looks good. Keep us up on the progress. I would love to come down and look her over sometime. I really want to do what you have done to your truck.

Ackattack, where did you put your bright light indicator?

Griesel72, happy to show the truck off someday to you, maybe when it's all in one piece we can meet at a car show.

Looking good Yukon.....Now for the fun part....:)

Yukon

I was just looking at the pictures page. And i have seen your buddie's white dually in Andover before. I tried to chase him down, but was stuck at a light on 400, and couldn't catch up. Is that just a newer dually frame under it, or is it converted?

David

Ackattack 09-09-2003 11:45 AM

I put it along with the warning lights in the hole where your oil pressure guage is.

David, It's a 1 ton frame that he converted to 4wd. Real talented guy. He did all my rust repairs for me.

That looks really good Mark, gonna be sweet in that white dash, without a doubt!
I'll take the opportunity to post the pic of your friend's truck, 'cause I think it is a sweet flatbed too.

Bram 09-09-2003 04:28 PM

Yukon Jack, what size is that oil pressure gauge? Oh and by the way good job!

Yukon Jack 09-09-2003 04:34 PM

The oil gauge is 3 3/8. The large gauges are 5" and the small ones are 2 5/8".

This is my buddies dash. He put the high beam indicator above the fuel gauge.

has anyone put a dakota digital bezel in, I have the opertunity to get one for $300 never used, is this a good price, and what do they look like?

Yukon Jack 09-11-2003 01:34 PM

I've never seen one in use but I hear they are difficult to read when sun hits them. I believe they have a website.

fast67chevy2002 09-11-2003 02:10 PM

Yukon Jack,

is it easy to install those gages in the bezel, I like the way yours looks, with the white face. I bought 6 diff. white face with indiglo to fit the various holes, is there anything I have to watch out for, and is it easy to change the wiring?

thanks for any help.:bowtie:

Yukon Jack 09-11-2003 03:30 PM

The 2 5/8" gauges fit after you remove the silver part of the gauge holes. The speedo, tach and oil gauge holes do not need to be modified. I won't be at the point of wiring the sending units for a while. So far all I have wired is the postive and negative wires for the gauge lights.

Here's a pic of the back side as they are now.

fast67chevy2002 09-11-2003 03:51 PM

thanks,

I have the bezel already painted, so I guess I just have to put it together. I have not even open the boxes with the gages in them, so when I do that, I suppose that I will understand what you mean.

Yukon Jack 09-11-2003 04:02 PM

Which size gauges are you using for the small gauge holes. Mine are 2 5/8" and the one's ackattack has pictured above are 2 1/16". If you look at his picture you can see that his gauges sit down in the hole while my gauges sit flush with the bezel. The silver slanted area of the guage hole has to be removed to make the 2 5/8" gauges fit. Hope that makes more sense.

landon4421 09-11-2003 04:04 PM

dude you are killing me ! :D Now I need to go out and spend somecash and make mine like that, well close to that. Would it work on a dash that has the tack already in it? Looking good yukon, really good !:D

Ackattack 09-11-2003 04:11 PM

I used a coulple of terminal strips glues to part of the original metal backing on mine, and ran wires from there. I also used 2 6 wire trailer harnesses...that way I just unplug 2 connectors, the speedo and headlights and it all pops out pretty quick.

I don't have any pics of the back of mine, it's pretty simple to wire, but there ends up being quite a few wires.

For my tach, I used a drum sander on my dremel and opened up the hole a little so it set back in a little more (I did this after I took the above picture). I'll be getting the speedo to match in a month or two.

Hey guys, those gauge setups look killer. Although I don't own a 67-72...I just completed a similar setup on my 73...
