67 to 72 cab differences
are there any differences from a 67 to 72 c10 cab? My 67 is kinda dented all up the back but the 72 cab is really nice. I wanted to see about changing from one to the other.
Also, what is the easiest way to lay the cab on its back to do work on it? |
Re: 67 to 72 cab differences
72 has mirror mounted on windshield, different emergency brake setup, and cable theottle vs mechanical linkage for starters. Standard big back window as well.

Re: 67 to 72 cab differences
Well my 67 has the big back window, but can the othe stuff be bolted or added on? I have both cabs.

Re: 67 to 72 cab differences
'72 doors also have a screw that holds both the inner and outer door skin/inner door together to keep the window sweeps/seals
In place, all the doors have a sheet metal tab that is welded at the factory that's supposed to Hold the doors together, but it breaks after time. The '72 also uses a long screw with a ferrule to "clamp" the doors together. |
Re: 67 to 72 cab differences
You can make any of the differences work. Just get them both together and you will see. You can adapt the '72 cab to accept the 67 accelerator and e-brake assemblies or just run the '72 stuff

Re: 67 to 72 cab differences
72 also had a vent that the earlier ones didn't have (above the vin plate). Oh, and make sure to keep the vin plate on the 72 cab or you will be asking for trouble later on.

Re: 67 to 72 cab differences
If the truck will be modded a lot anyway just use the 72 cab and "front clip it" with the 67 stuff, box included.
