I have some questions about the 69 burb we just bought.

#1 was it a stock thing with a wood floor behind the rear seat? between the wheel wells?

#2 if the wood was stock, can I still put a 3rd seat back there?

#3 was there at one time trim placed on the sides of the back of the burb above the wheel wells? hard to explain. under the two long windows in the back and between the floor and the window on the sides? I dont know if that makes since or not..

Here is a pic of where I was wondering if there was ever a trim peice or something to cove the outer wall.

I like Burbs!

Floor is marine plywood and it is a very good grade. Your third seat will bolt up to the cross brace which should be under the wood at the right location.

Side panels were attached to cover up the areas that you have your pic of. It does not look like yours ever had the panels which are very much like the Blazers. There are a lot of little brackets for the side panels plus there was a long chrome strip at the top that covered the edge.

To elaborate:

The plywood floor is indeed stock. In panels, it had skid strips like a wood floored truck bed. In burbs it was simple plywood and should have had a rubber mat covering it, matching the floor mat in front. There should also have been a sill plate holding that mat down by your rear doors. Whatever they used for plywood it sure is durable. I've never seen any burb with it rotted out.

As for 3rd seats, the stock rear seat from a blazer is the same as the 3rd seat in a burb, so don't limit your search to burbs only. 3 seat equipped burbs had a shorter second seat to allow access to the 3rd seat. 2 seat burbs had a full length bench for a 2nd seat. If not originally equipped with a 3rd seat you'll need to drill holes after locating a seat. The seatbelts would attach to the seat brackets so you don't have to worry about attaching seatbelts. This is of course if you are going for the stock interior.;)

As for inner side panels, burbs had vinyl covered stiff cardboard panels attached with a chrome upper trim piece and screws. These were either the verticle pleats for 67/68, or a scroll pattern 69-72, in same color as front inner door panels. The LH side went all the way back, the RH side went to the spare. The spare would have had a vinyl cover over it, in black only.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help guys ! The second seat that is in the burb now seems to be to long for someone to have access to the third seat, is that beacuse A : it never had the 3rd seat or B: it is the 3rd seat in the 2nd seat position? I will see if i have a pic, hold on.

I found on it is not the best pic but it will kind of work. I hope, I will take a better one and post tomorrow.

Your's is a factory 2 seater. The 3rd seat sits between the wheel tubs so it's far shorter than that. If ti had the 3rd seat from the factory it would be an option on the glove box.

burb parts

I found a third seat at the pomona swap meet for 100.00
you just have to look around. it has taken me about 6 months to find one, found a few for about 150.00 without the brackets, then they wanted 250.00 for the brackets if they could find them. just a little to much for me. LOL

69-72 Blazer back seats are a direct bolt in for the burb 3rd seat, brackets and all! Will work for shorter second seat but brackets are wrong.
