I was searching craigslist for parts for my 60 K20 and ran across this deal. I just couldn' resist so I jumped all over it! :metal:

What are your plans for it?

Re: Couldn't Resist!!!

I was going to use the drivetrain for my 60 but I think I'm going to freshen it up and use it for a beater hunt mobile. Needs brake work, tune up, etc. but I stole it for $600. It's a 78 3/4 ton with a manual tranny.

Smart move. I love everything about it. Well, except the......"art?", heh heh. I can see past that, too. It's cool to find the utility SUVs like that. A no BS do whatever vehicle

The "art" is from boy scouts. The PO used the truck to take Boy Scouts out on adventures and let them put their own touch on it. Can't wait to dig in and get dirty but too dang hot here to do much.

cool find!
gotta luv them cheap 'ol subs!
picked this up in the late eightes for 500 bucks for parts, but the beast ran so good i drove it around my dad's property for yrs before it finally had to give up it's rear axle for my blazer. body was not nearly as "cherry" as yours & had some other issues (no seatbelts...) so it never hit the road

Re: Couldn't Resist!!!

I ran the wheels off of a former Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission '91 Suburban. Or rather, I ran the body off the wheels (got hit head-on/trailer jacked the rear quarter). Rust was still not bad. The wheels, tires, axles, springs, trans, and transfer case went under an '85 Jimmy. The Jimmy was meant to be a Maryland National Park & Planning Commission ranger vehicle, but it somehow ended up in a farmer's hands since new. Both are odd arrangements between the two Maryland counties that are suburbs and Washington,DC. Now I have a '95 Suburban that is a former Cobb County Georgia Sherriff's Dept K-9 (bloodhound) unit. It just worked out this way... kinda funny. I now have a thing for former municipal vehicles. Is that an official collector vehicle segment?
Former boy scout adventure rig is super cool. I don't hate the "art" (especially knowing what I know now), I just couldn't say I love it

I would say give it a "rattle can" camo paint job if it's a hunting rig.

Desert tan all over. Hey, Camo stands out like a sore thumb in Southern AZ...and it's contemporary. That's the color I wanted to paint my Suburban

Re: Couldn't Resist!!!

Thanks guys! I'm having a hard time with what I want to do with it. Swap parts into the 60 (of which I'm welding patch panels now) or spend, hopefully not too much, time and money and put it up at my inlaws cabin (which I use as a base camp for hunting etc.) and drive the piss out of it. Problem is time!!! Time is kicking my A right now! That + the heat (115) out here in AZ makes it difficult to get anything done (like sub zero in winter for some of you). Dilemmas :waah:

Is the front axle a dana 60 or is it the dana 44/10 bolt?

Re: Couldn't Resist!!!

I don't remember what it was, but I saw you asking axle related questions in a thread recently. what is the situation with the drivetrain under it now. Just exactly what do you have and what does it need?

It's got the Dana 44 up front, not the corporate 10, np205 Tcase, 14 bolt FF rear, and I'm guessing sm465 tranny.
