Dakota Digital Help Needed
I bought the VHX gauges for my 1991 Suburban. Anybody put these in? I'd be grateful for help with pictures on cutting the wires & hookup to the Dakota Digital unit.

Step One...Google and download the 91 wiring manual and or buy one on ebay.
Step Two...Download the manual for the gauges from Dakota Digital. Step Three...study both before you start snipping wires! Since i am running LSx power i used there OBD2 box so all i had to do was wire in the fuel gauge wires and oil psi sensor. And of course B+/Gnd/Ign B+/ Turn signal etc. I'll see if i can take a few more pictures today. I removed the speakers in the dash since they were not being used and then used wire ties to secure the module to the underside of the dash. Do this after the wires are run and secure. Module runs gang connectors (screws) which i feel is a poor choice. I used a snap on pocket screw driver to tighten the gang screws and the first time a few came loose since i tried not to over tighten the screws to prevent damage. So make sure they are tight! DW |
Re: Dakota Digital Help Needed
I downloaded all the literature and got most hooked up... Oil pressure is the tough one. Is the hookup the "fuel pump oil pressure switch" (connector C115) near the back of the engine?

Re: Dakota Digital Help Needed
As far as i am aware DD uses their own oil psi sensor and harness.
However i'd call their technical desk as the 90/91's ran a 3 wire oil psi sensor that looks just like theirs. And yes that sensor is at the back of the engine block by the distributor. DW |
