Selectro Locking Hub question
 

Is there an easy way to tell the vintage of a set of selectro hubs? Weren't there some that used to be silver and then some that used to be black (as pictured) - or were the silver ones just well-used black ones with the paint worn off...? Did they go out of production at some point? Seems the only "new" locking hubs manufactured nowadays are warn 9072s, so kinda curious. Interested in a set of selector hubs - guy is advertising them as "NOS" which is odd because they were not factory items (at least on chevs) - I think he really just meant vintage (and unused). Anyway, tomayto, tomahto. Most members lean toward the selectros over the warn premiums. My warns are worn way out and all pitted/banged up - so considering replacements. Would prefer something period over brand new and have located a nice set of selectros, just can't tell how old they are. Thanks all!

I would ask for more pictures of the box and look for a copyright date on them.But you can buy those brand new to this day look on summit racing for Mile Marker Classic Selectro Locking Hubs.

Selectro is Dualmatic. Are they NLA? Mine were black in 1978.

Tha ks for both replies, very helpful. Asking seller if any dates on the packaging etc. might just stick with the old warn premium hubs on it an clean/freshen them up with new gaskets and bolts.

NOS means new old stock. It as nothing to do with factory GM, Ford, Dodge, etc. It means old stock that was never installed or used. This can apply to Car parts, clothing, toys or whatever.

Interesting. Am aware what NOS stands for, but have never heard of non-OEM items described as NOS - only as "unused". Makes sense though, NOS is NOS, regardless of who made it.
