Help.. 47-53 vs 54-59 tailgate width?
 

Can anyone tell me the difference if any between the widths of the 47-53 and 54-59 tailgates?

If you don't know both, and happen to have one or the other, could you post a measurement?

55.1 is 50 7/8" or 51" for all practical purposes.

My '51 is also 50 7/8" at it's widest part.

That is great news guys, Thank you for the help.

I purchased a tailgate that was listed for my 47-53 bed but after paying, I noticed it was not listed correctly since it had the 54 up hook tabs to keep the tailgate closed.
I was hoping it would fit without cutting it down or stretching it. I can work around the tab issue :)

Was not even thinking of a difference in height. Do you happen to know what the difference is?

I don't know the 47-53 height. The 54 + is approximately 19 1/4". There was a big change in the bed between 53-54. The rails flattened and the gate appears taller.

my '51 tailgate is 15 9/16 " top to bottom.

Oh wow..

I knew about the bed rail change, but assumed the tailgate would be about the same height..

Man... I should have paid closer attention to the listing photo before buying.
But the title said "47-53 Model Chevy Pick Up Tailgate"

I guess I will decide how to proceed when it gets here.
