3000 700r4 convertor
I bit the bullet and purchased a 3-3200 10" lockup convertor for my 700r4 in my 65 Chevy. I'm curious as to your opinion on stock in radiator coolers vs external coolers and piggybacking them... Also refresh my memory on what trans lines are hot and cold (top and bottom)
I'm hoping to help the truck wake up from idle and to be able to turn my idle down a bit... Previous 1/8 th mile passes 9.02-9.08 @ 76ish mph with 12" 2400 conv leavin just off idle! 3.73, 27" tire, shift at 5800 going through hitting rev limiter before third shift at stripe.. This is a street cruiser so didn't want anything to drastic.. What are your opinions? |

Re: 3000 700r4 convertor
I prefer to run external only with a seperate fan cooler and control for it. If you don't want to run a larger fan cooled unit, then piggyback them as shown.

Re: 3000 700r4 convertor
I have a 3 core aluminum radiator with dual electric fans and shroud, i ran the biggest trans cooler i could get with out a fan and just by passed the radiator. If you look down in the radiator, there is not much volume of atf to be able to be cooled. And if it leaks, there goes your trans..
