Check out this frame swap
4 Attachment(s)
I was scoping out a cab at a local yard and found this beauty. PO performed his own body swap, looks like onto a S10/small blazer frame. PO didn't waste too much time worrying about little things like body mounts or integrity. Original frame mounts were "extended". I was impressed by the homemade driveshaft hoop.

Re: Check out this frame swap
It scares me to thin that it might have been on the road, hopefully ir never got that far.

Re: Check out this frame swap
Wow that's a scary mess. Seeing stuff like that makes me think every state should have annual vehicle inspections

Re: Check out this frame swap
He put the drive shaft hoop there because he knew something was gonna fail!

Another one wasted. :(

Re: Check out this frame swap
The scary thing is that there is more of this sort of work rolling down the road than most realize. I agree that every state should have yearly vehicle inspections, for a number of reasons, one of which is this sort of thing.

I guess I could sign off on the idea if someone with a good reputation in the community (race officiator, existing tech specialist from a track etc) were handling these inspections...but the cost and backlog or resources for that would be extreme....let alone the political leanings of appointing such a job as a state employee. (But Hell, I'm qualified and would totally take it :) ) |
Re: Check out this frame swap
thats not an s10 or small blazer frame, s10/blazer frames are boxed. it actually looks like a 70s ford 4x4 frame to me.

Re: Check out this frame swap
That was a fun build...
y'all feel free to copy whatever engineering techniques you might need too! |

So here is the story with that truck. I got it a few months ago for $900. It had really good sheet metal on it and a really nice factory grill. It also had a good running 454 and turbo 400. Everything on the cab was shot. It had no title and frame was a 75 4x4. IT was very poorly done. I kept everything off it I thought was usable.
