Aftermarket sway bars

Opinions on buying aftermarket front and rear sway bars? I don't have either on my c10. Brothers is having a sale until the end of the month. Sway bar, mounts and links for 100 bucks each. I was planning on buying the Belltech rear setup but I could buy both from Brothers for that price.

I would go for it ;)

I was hoping someone would confirm if they are decent quality parts.

The Bell bars are nice pieces. I have both but front and rear bars. You'd be happy with just the front if you have none now.

I wouldn't put on a rear bar without trying it with front only for a while. I remember gchemist commenting on his setup once and said something to the effect that it was pretty lively with front and rear bars.

Lively how?

Skittish in the rear, IIRC.

As I reassemble my truck, I will be installing a CCP front and a 1 ton I picked up from 1774btcrew for the rear.

My biggest concern is the quality of the one sold by Brothers.

Re: Aftermarket sway bars

Quality is probably ok. That bar is pretty small though. The big factory bar is 1.25". It will still work circles around what you have now. If you can get it for $100 I'd do it.....

Adding a factory sway bar to my 84 was the cheapest and best upgrade I have made to my truck. Made a world of difference in the handling and cruising,

Thanks for the opinions!

Just get a 1ton's 1 1/4" solid front bar from the junkyard. As good as any aftermarket for street driving.

Honestly, because I don't have the time to go to the junkyard and pull one. Then by the time I do and clean it up and replace the bushings and links I'll probably be close to 100 bucks anyhow.

Does your truck have the factory sway bar brackets riveted to the frame? How much is your truck lowered? I was in the same situation as you and installed this:

My Jimmy didn't have a factory sway bar so I drilled the frame and bolted the brackets supplied with what I listed above right to the frame. Worked great and I'm very pleased with how it handles. You can just barely see it in this pic.

After reading this thread, went to Brothers site. I think for $100 you can't go wrong. I have a factory bar on the front of my truck but wanted to try a rear bar and for that much I have to try one. Going to order tonight.

I don't know I'll have to look. It's lowered about 5" in the front.

Then the bar I posted and others like it will work well without factory frame brackets.

So you don't feel you needed these?

Also will an LS 5.3 interfere later down the road?

No, you don't need those.
Sway bar should have no effect on LS fitting or not.

Re: Aftermarket sway bars

if you lowered more the 3" i would check to see if it comes with lowered brackets. my truck is dropped 4.5" front. i bought cpp sway bar off ebay an it came with stock an lowered brackets. tried the stock ones first. an it was a no go. had to use the lowered ones

Re: Aftermarket sway bars

I decided to get this kit from BellTech. From my supplier it is 264.93 plus some shipping for both bars.

Re: Aftermarket sway bars

I used the factory brackets on the 1 1/4 bar I installed and my truck was 5" down in front as well.

Sorry, here's the link to what I was referring to. I ordered this kit just at a better deal.
