Soft top questions

Working on my 72 k5 and trying to make some decisions. I live in sunny south Florida. The truck will be a toy but will be driven a lot. The truck will kept in a garage at home and it's parked in a garage at work. The inside will be rinho lined the seats vinyl. I pitched the hard top and have a new soft top for it but I'm starting to wonder if I should bother installing it. So people with softtops do you you ever actually put it up? Should I just get a bikini top made up?

If I lived were you are and had a second set of wheels, and cover at home and work, there would be no no top period.

I will add. It is sure nice to have the soft top in the back when that sneak up thunderstorm is coming in.

You know that happens in Florida, I'am in Tampa and I keep it folded down in back just in case!

Trying to decide if I want the look of the rails and the top folded back, hard to find many photos of the top down.

I sold my hard top - total PITA!
Usually just put the softtop on about end of October thru around Easter weekend. I can't stand being cold & it keeps the wind off in winter for the little bit I drive it in the winter months.
Yes on the bikini top - love mine!!! It's welcomed shade from the hot sun (especially to my husbands head) in these MS hot summers & nice to block some wind or if caught in a rain. When I bought this Blazer it came with a softop but window were torn & some snaps missing. I cut it up in shape I wanted & had local upholster sew up edges & sew straps on sides/back. It's also super easy to take off/on if want to ride totally topless!

The top is folded down behind the rear seat in this photo.

"driven a lot" ...you'll want to mount your soft top. guaranteed you'll get caught in more than a few summer morning downpours in south FL and I assume you'll have AC too. Oh and that 1 week of below 60* winters :)

You can, but the top will flap.
4 screws and the bars are off.
I agree it does not look as good with the bars in front of the roll bar and across the door, but it is really not in the way.

Re: Soft top questions

If your roll bar is taller, then you won't need the front support as much.
