I need a set of gears!

I am looking for a set (front and rear) of gears for my 12 bolt rear end. I believe it is a 8.875 diameter. Would like 4:10's but anything would be better than the 307's in there no. Thanks and let me know.

Have you got a 4 point carrier? I could be wrong but I think you neer to change your carrier also going from 3.07 to 3.73. We don't do 4x4's so i could be wrong.

wally4232 09-13-2003 09:40 AM

That is a good question. How do I identify a four point carrier?

6772king 09-13-2003 09:49 AM

mother trucker's is right your 307 gears have a 3 series carier and the 373 that i have use a 4 series carier. the difference is were the ring gear is located to the pinion the lower the gear the closer to the pinion you need to be how close are you to PA ???? I,m pritty close to OH let me know maybe I could help.

I am about 40 mins straight south of Cedar Point. Do you have a carrier? Or does anyone else have a carrier. I broke a tooth on my ring gear and figured since I have to change it anyways I might as well change to something I will like better. Let me know. Even if you dont have a carrier, what exactly do you have as far as the 373? I am interested though.

Thick and thin

It's been a while since i've set one up although i believe either thick or thin gears are used with the appropriate series carrier.
