which color OEM grille for 77 Scottsdale
 

Ive got one of the cheap aftermarket grilles on my 77 Scottsdale now, but recently picked up a NOS grille exactly as seen here on this truck http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-C-...m=181888119867
My truck was a gunmetal grey from the factory and Im trying to determine which color it would have come with. Dark Grey or light silver?
If not factory with the dark, I'll be getting rid of the NOS one.

Well as luck would have it the page listing the description of the 1977 grille wasn't scanned into the GM heritage website but:

1978 Grille Molded plastic; painted silver and dark gray integral Chevrolet emblem at center includes bright insert with ochre trim

1978 Chevy Sport Grille Chromed with special black accent

1979 Grille Molded plastic; painted dark gray integral Chevrolet emblem at center includes bright insert with ochre trim

1979 Chevy Sport Chromed with special black accent

The auction listed has ended, so the pics arent available. The small pic that remains makes the grill look dark charcoal. From what I can ascertain from the 1977 sales brochure, a medium grey was used on all models. The Cheyenne and Silverado had metal trim on the crossbars, and the Scottsdale did not.

Any suggestions on where to buy the dark gray paint? I am picking up a 78 that has a tube grille. I need to repaint the stock grille I have for it. I have found the silver/argent but no dark gray.

Old post but no answer on dark grey. Can somebody recommend a dark grey colour that would be correct for 1979.? Thanks

I painted mine krylon fusion satin pewter grey, I have a ‘79 blazer. It’s not dark gray but my grille appeared to be a light to medium gray Color on the front. Could’ve been repainted at some point I guess. The color was close enough for me.
