Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...l.jpg~original
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...7.jpg~original Hey guys, this is my build thread. I'm still learning how to post and hopefully you'll bear with me. This thread will be picture heavy and over the course of the next few days I will get the project up to date. This is when I first got her, and she's changed a little bit since then. Sidenote: Can anyone tell me how to resize the picture attachments so they are not overbearingly large. Thanks, Casey |
Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
I purchased truck on May 21 of 2015..brought her home and started with disassembly. I already had somewhat of an idea of my plan. I think we all have this illusion at the onset of these projects we start. after looking back on over 4 months of progress, there are numerous things I would do differently, however my goal was to keep these to a minimum. I knew I wanted to do LS conversion. I knew I wanted Pro_Touring look & feel. here are a few pics of disassembly

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
As I have already stated I am "not" tech savvy. I have never been on facebook, I have never skyped, I rarely email. But I found your website during my original research and must admit have enjoyed greatly.. this is were I found "No Limit Eng." that I eventually used for my suspension. point being please be patient with me and i'll do my best. the truck build is the easy part for me. its all the post, reply, thread, pm, etc..etc.. is all greek to me.
I have already posted a few pics of what I started with..i knew there was some rust along the firewall where it meets the lower cowl. but I found a whole lot more than I suspected. I will soon post the damage I found after tear down. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for my next installment |

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
Thanks SwampRat, I really did not see how to reduce actual size of the picture when i post. But thanks for trying to put me on the right path. I am sure as with most new things i ill pick it up with time.

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
Here is a few images of body cancer found after tear down and a trip to sandblaster.
Well i am having trouble with internet this evening and still having issue with images being to large. I will see if i can get some help from my 3 year old and try again in morning..good night |
Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
Welcome to the "projects and builds" section. I will be following your build along.

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
HERE IS FEW PICS OF WHAT THE CANCER WAS LIKE AFTER TEAR DOWN & SANDBLASTING.. SOME YOU COULD SEE, BUT THERE WAS ALOT THAT WAS HIDDEN..AS WE HAVE ALL SAID DURING THESE PROJECTS, WE WANT TO KEEP THE "I WISH I WOULD HAVE DONE THIS" TO A MINIMUM. THERE ARE A FEW PANELS IN RETROSPECT I WISH I WOULD HAVE REPAIRED RATHER THAN REPLACED...WHAT CAN I SAY, ITS DONE NOW.

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
So i got out the lmc, classic, lkq, etc...and started buying replacement panels..the most difficult was the lower cowl to lower windshield pillars..nobody makes these replacements that i could find. So i got out the cut-off wheel & mig..once i had my large cancer removed and patch panels installed i glassed over these areas. My thought was, you will never see these but it is a catch area for debri & water. Here are some pics of the replacement panels and repairs on cab

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
AFTER A MONTH OR SO OF FABRICATION IT WAS TIME FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE FUN.. I HAD ALREADY PURCHASED A RUNNING 2001 CHEVY 2500 TRUCK. IT HAD A "U" CODE 6.0L WITH "317" HEADS AND 4L80E TRANSMISSION. SO ME AND MY BESTEST BUD PULLED ON THE LIFT AND YANKED OUT THE POWERTRAIN AND ENGINE HARNESS/PCM FOR REBUILD AND UPGRADES. SEE FOLLOWING PICS. AGAIN I AM SORRY FOR THE LARGE PICS, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REDUCE DOWN
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...g.jpg~original THATS MY BUD ROB HELPING ME WITH DISASSENBLY http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...8.jpg~original http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...l.jpg~original |
Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
SO THE ENGINE IS OFF TO MY MACHINIST, MY TRANNY IS OFF TO BUILDER AND THE HARNESS/PCM IS OFF TO "SPEARTECH"..
P.S. AS I AM POSTING THIS MY HARNESS HAS RETURNED FROM SPEARTECH, EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTH AND AHEAD OF SCHEDULE WITH SPEARTECH. I HAVE NOT INSTALLED OR OPENED TO EVEN LOOK AT HARNESS, SO I WILL KEEP YA'LL UPDATED ON QUALITY OF THERE UPGRADES/REFLASH. I AM SURE I COULD HAVE CLEANED UP WIRING HARNESS MYSELF, HOWEVER YOU WILL SEE I HAD RECEIVED A BIG SHIPMENT FROM "NO LIMIT ENGINEERING" ABOUT THIS SAME TIME. SINCE I HAD MY FRAME BLASTED & STRIPPED, I WAS TO EXCITED WITH MY ARRIVAL TO MONKEY WITH WIRING HARNESS SPIDER WEBS. YOU WILL SEE FROM NEXT FEW PICS WHY..... http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...x.jpg~original HERE IS A LOOK AT MY STOCK FRAME READY FOR "BOXING" & "XING". KEEP IN MIND I HAVE NEVER INSTALLED ANYTHING OTHER THAN SUSPENSION UPGRADES & LADDER BARS, ETC..PRIOR TO THIS..WE JUST USED COMMON SINCE AND JUMPED IN. I AM SURE SO OF YOU EXPERTS CAN POINT OUT WHERE WE WENT WRONG, HOWEVER I AM VERY HAPPY WITH RESULTS SO FAR..ALSO, KEEP IN MIND THIS TRUCK WILL PROBABLY NEVER SEE A RACE TRACK. http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...k.jpg~original http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...q.jpg~original http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...v.jpg~original http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...g.jpg~original |
Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
Yeah, i had never replaced lower door pillars and the lower cowl was fun with all the different parts coming togather & all the curves..hey, it's done now. Got a little fab work to do on the bed. Couple of small patchs and i am making some kind of inner wheel tubs.

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"

i am trying something different on pic, let's see if works yeah that worked, now problem is there is no way to re-take the 200 pictures i already have in my library???? great for future pics, but lousey for my older saved pics by the way this is my harness/pcm back from Speartech |
Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
Back to my updating, as stated before, i was ready for a break from body/rust repair and my "No Limit" chassis pack had arrived so we switched gears
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...v.jpg~original I might add, some of the boxing we done was for look more so than strength. Such as in front of front crossmember, not needed for frame twist. But we thought it would look better hen hoods up and you are looking down..Keep in mind this is by no means going to be a show truck, it's meant to be driven. Sometimes we do what we do.. http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...q.jpg~original Once we had frame partially boxed, we started install of No Limit engine/suspension front cradle http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...x.jpg~original |
Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"

Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
I wabore you with how we measured and remeasure and mocked prior to welding. Lets just say we did alot of trial & error prior to. After front crossmember was installed we moved to rear 4-link, coilover brkts, panhard mounts
This is 4-link & coilover brackets for differential http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...q.jpg~original This is panhard brkt for differential http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...k.jpg~original This is 4-link frame mount http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...b.jpg~original After all welding for No Limit kit was done we finished up our frame boxing/bracing http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...q.jpg~original |
Re: Tucker69 "Project No-Name"
I see where you get the moniker "Ripper"...Dang man i am like a priest in a house of ill repute here. :uhmk:..i can take a gm rochester q-jet apart, rejet, rebuild and put back together in my sleep, but i can't work the remote control on my tv set....what really sad is most times i don't care. Like i mentioned before i am a 48 year old man with a 102 year old mentality...
