NE1 Have A Pik Of A 73-87 With Cross Memeber Drop?

I was just wondering if anyone has a pik of a 73 - 87 aired out with a front crossmember drop? I just wanna see what it looks like. I can picture it in my mind, as it would just be a couple inchs lower, but would still like to see a pik. Thanks!

It seems that none of us have it all together yet. I have been getting caught up on alot of little BS. I am awaiting some bushings and will be mocking up front end next week. I HOPE!!

I'm assuming this has a lowered front crossmember or other custom setup. You get the idea though.

that is body dropped, i highly doubt it has a raised cross member, thanks anyway

gchemist 09-15-2003 10:53 PM

Ask Captkaos in the 73-87 forum. He has pictures of a front crossmember he cutout. Looks pretty cool.

I am looking for a pik of a truck, not the cross member. I just wanna see how close the rockers are at the ground, and the overall stance of the truck. I know it would be about 2" lower in the front than a plain typical bagged truck, but i just wanna see the actual difference in real life. No biggie, i just thought if someone has done this already, and has the truck all back together, i would like to see a pik of the final results. Thanks guys!

Yeah I don't see choppin' up a truck for under an inch. :D

It's a member named smashingchuck from FSC. :D

His wheels are 17's but I couldn't find out his tire size. You can pm or email him on FSC if you'd like. :D

Heya 58, couple more ?'s if thats kool?!. Were you layin frame in the '83 and if so what did you do with the gas tanks if anything? I have 2 stock tanks with the plastic gaurd cover on both. I am already scraping the crap outta the covers and i am not bagged yet. I was just wondering if you relocated your tank(s) or installed smaller ones, or fuel cell, or did you drive it with the tanks half inch off the ground. Just curious as what to do. I really don't wanna install a fuel cell, but i also don't wanna blow myself or my truck up! LOL I was thinking getting my tanks sectioned so they are about 1 - 1.5" higher. What did you do, and think is best??? Thanks once again!!!

BaggedC10 09-17-2003 02:08 AM

73-87' C10's can't lay frame as the body is lower. More specifically, the rockers. ;)

Is it really? It always seemed that the Tranny/Front Crossmembers hang lower than the rockers...
Slammed87,
Would you really wanna be lower than this?

I laid arms and tranny crossmember up front and it laid out in my notch out back. I had the passenger tank only because I pulled the driver tank and put my 12 gallon air tank in its place. I drove with the arms about an inch and a half off the pavement and never hit the gas tank but I did scrape the bottom of the air tank a few times.

If you are going to bag it and plan on rolling low all the time I’d suggest a fuel cell eventually but the tank shouldn’t scrap unless you end up doing the crossmember drop because there’s no way you can get the tank unless you run over something. :D

True but if you’re doing a steering crossmember drop to lay out more logic would say you’d wanna raise the tranny crossmember as well to lay out harder. :D

Why not be lower than that? :D

phantom dually 09-17-2003 01:05 PM

Im with 5-8 the lower the better. Thanks for the pics of the truck with the crossmember sittin in the dirt. That gives me some inspiration to get mine done.

loweredd 09-17-2003 08:15 PM

so that's not your primered truck fiveeight? I need that exact same steering set up. My arm is hitting my steering shaft big time.

Do you know about the truck, or you've just seen the pics? Is that a modified original shaft?

I need ta know BAD.

phantom dually 09-17-2003 08:30 PM

May be the shaft cut up and borgesen joints used. They run about $60 each.

Yes, the front crossmember is lower than the rockers. Assuming the truck has one, the rockers are still lower than the frame. That's the reason I said laying frame isn't going to happen. :)

Keerect. You'll need 2 pieces of "D" shaft and 3 Ujoints. :D

I'd suggest getting it all from http://www.flamingriver.com

jon_volk 09-19-2003 11:50 AM

so whats this air commander thing? an engine driven compressor?

Captkaos 09-19-2003 04:13 PM

York a/c compressor set up to run as a Air compressor. Off road guys have been using these for years. I have the setup to go on my Jeep to run my air lockers.

Keerect. I wouldn't run an airbag setup without an engine driven comp after using that on the 83. :D
