CL states 72' Clearly the truck is NOT a 72'

Slanted hood, early grill...

Maybe he had a 72 cab with registration and added that to the 67' or 68' truck?

Looks more like 17' to me. Craigslist doesn't state anything, the seller does. I see a cargo light, so not a '68 cab. With all the '72s sporting '68 front clips and all the other modifications I'd imagine that's what we have here. '67s don't have side markers

Too new to be a 17'... Just kidding. I guess you meant 71'.
I did not know about cargo lights not being on 68's.

The year thing doesn't bother me so much, lotta folks have done that. I'm more interested in the toggle switches on the core support.

Just a guess, but maybe for lighting? It is a show truck.

The description states that it is the Rare S 10 Model

He is making fun of your notation. '71 would be shorthand for a year. 71' would be shorthand for 71 feet.

at first i was thinking this truck was in an old custom classics truck magazine but based on this guys short description and not careful about it seeing aas how he put s10 i dont think this guy is very knowledgable about his truck

Spell check people! This isn't a $400 parts truck... come on man!

"COREVETT MOTOR". Not only is it one of the highly sought after Corvette engine models, but it was one before they changed the spelling of Corvette to what we're used to today!

In all seriousness, the truck likely IS a 1972 because that's probably what the VIN, Frame, and title all say. He probably should have added the thing about the 68 clip, but based on his description, he probably has no clue that it's not a 72 front clip on the truck.

I agree with the comments. The guy is thinking/hoping that all the bling and modification will sell this truck but instead (in my opinion) this will hurt the sale. It's a $15k or more truck all day long, the right buyer. Definitely an ebay item!

I don't think he's way outta line on his price at all. Gotta start somewhere. Way easier to go down than up. :metal:

Nice truck over all. I like the color and the fact it has a Corvette LT motor in it. Any fuel injection motor is a plus in my book. The guy may not know the difference in these trucks and that my friends means he doesn't know the real value so use that to your advantage not to his! Unless you don't mind paying more for it!
$20,000 for a finished truck are pretty much looks finished is a heck of a good buy. Because we all know they are never ever finished...right!

PS
As far as the cargo light that can be added to any truck cab. I did it to my 71. Along with the front clip as long as the paper work matches the frame and cab I would be good with it.
Those light switches under the hood, who knows but I would also say they are for show lights.
:chevy:

Duh! I put the accent in the wrong place! I did not realize I did that.
Yes, it is the elusive 71 foot bed, I have only heard of them, and never saw one in person. Maybe I should go look at this one before it gets sold...

My uncle lives in Guilford NY (the craigslist poster has it spelled wrong!). The people around his place are about as smart as a box of rocks. Most of the time things are purchased with chickens or manual labor in trade. I don't know what someone is doing with a show truck up there but I'd be very wary of it.

Front clip swaps are common. Or, maybe the guy isn't fully knowledgeable and is helping someone with the ad/sale. I see sport mirrors...I'd say it's a '72. As long as the plate and title vins match up, I wouldn't care what year it is

Re: CL states 72' Clearly the truck is NOT a 72'

I'd bet money I nailed it. It's obvious isn't it? I know a cargo light can be fit to any 67-72. I have also done that on some trucks. I pointed that out to help support that it is plain and simple a '72 with a '68 clip, just like dozens of member's trucks. It's just a modified truck, including the Crovette engine

And it's true, I was just ribbin' ya about your ' placement...see it all the time here. We had a member here names 70'GMC and I called him 70 footer. I think it went over his head the whole time he was here. Or...maybe I ran him off?

My opinion is he bought the truck for less than 10K and is flipping it.

Maybe. If he can buy it for 10K, clean it up a bit, and sell it for say 16K that's a pretty savvy businessman in my book. I prefer to "buy high, sell low". It keeps me honest.
