Wanting to lower 69 C20.
 

So I want to lower my truck. After reading different posts on here I've learned that i can use the c10 springs. So i was going to go with a 3/5 drop spring kit from CPP because i still have drum brakes all around. Now here's my issue, after doing some research here I've noticed that some are opposed to using 3" drop springs and its making me a little nervous in going forward with that project. I looked on ECE's site and talked to them but they only offer a 2/4 kit with springs and I think that would not be enough drop for me. I also got a quote from a shop for 2300 bucks for a basic air ride set up. I think eventually i may do that,but that is a big expense and theres still some projects i want to do before that. Can I get your guys suggestions on what to do and if you have used 3" drop springs in front, have you had any issues? Thanks in advance, This forum is awesome. Here's a pic of how it sits now.

Thanks. I just want it to fill up the wheel wells a little more. I've also always liked the look of a lowered truck.

The thing is when you lower it that much with just springs the steering geometry starts getting all funky and the tire gets pulled in at the top. I think somebody makes a c20 drop spindle. You could get a drop 2 inch and then do 2 inch springs and it would be right for what your wanting to do. But, that is a big but, the thought of spending money twice bothers me. Why not go airbag if that is what you want just wait a little longer for it. The $2300 is gonna end up as $3000 or so if you do it twice. Jim

You're right about the money. Doesn't make sense to spend twice. I think I'm just in a state of mind where I want to do everything now. I've been looking at some dropped with ece's 2/4 kit. Doesn't look bad. Maybe with the right wheel/tire setup it would look great. Thanks for your input

265 75 16's fill the wheel well pretty well without lowering at all. On my C2500 GMC Sierra Grande I ran those along with a 1 1/2" rear shackle on the leafs for a mostly level wheel well filling look.

But I will say the same thing to you I do to everyone with a drum brake truck. DISC BRAKE CONVERSION IF YOU WANT TO USE AND DRIVE THE TRUCK!

By far the best mod on my '70 as well as the '69 short step I have now. Then you can use a 2 1/2" spindle and ponder adding an even lower spring for whatever drop works with your wheel tire combo.
