Seat recover and repair
 

Got my seat redone. New foam and cover in bright blue. I am amazed at how much higher I am sitting. The old seat had a spring broken on the drivers side seat edge. So my seat was sagging some but I did not realized how much.

My installer had another guy in his shop do the same seat. He used an LMC cover mine was from Classic. He thought the LMC one was better made saying it was doubled stitched on some seams.

Mine was fine but I guess the parts are all over the place.

I am about 6-4 and my head almost hits the roof. The driving experience is really different when your sitting up higher.

I think some of the shops add more foam or padding to make the cover fit tighter and eliminate wrinkles. The seat in my '69 Suburban was the same way. No problem for me, I'm a short guy...:)

Were these covers straight out of the package, or did an upholster have to put it on?

I know I'm gonna have to recover mine and I've been looking for some I might be able to do myself.

I could have done it myself they are right out of the box. I have other cars that need minor stuff beyond what I can do so I wanted to see his work and it was good.

The foam was also from a vendor I don't think there was extra foam. I think after 45 years the foam was losing it.

So most people riding around on an old seat don't know any better.

I redid mine with the cover from a board vendor. Bought some foam from an upholstery shop, som glue and hog rings. Seat looks brand new, rides much better a d minus the actual cover, it was real cheap to do myself too
