I don't know about those carburetors, but I bought one from National Carburetors Inc. last year for $214.50 with no core charge. $90 seems like a lot for a core charge. The NCI carburetor I got had a stripped thread for the vacuum line in the base, so I had to return it for another one.

The carb I got sucks too much gas, but it does have a lifetime warranty, which I could not find anywhere else (don't know how good their warranty actually is.) I only bought this one because it was the cheapest around. My original leaking carburetor got about 11 mpg city and the NCI carb gets only 8 mpg city at best. It will get 11 mpg on the highway. (I have a 1983 C20 454, so pigging gas is a way of life for me.) I just needed something to get me through emissions and not leak gas.

I have read that Sean Murphy has good Qjets. I have had poor results with Carter(now Edelbrock) and auto parts store rebuilds, so I will go with Sean Murphy next time. A q-jet for my BB would cost $403.28 with shipping but it looks like no core charge.

I drive my truck less than 1,000 miles per year, so I can tolerate the low gas mileage for now. I will say that the NCI carb does start and run very well.

I also bought one from national carburetor, stock quadrajet replacement. I didn't return my old quadrajet (only a 35$ core). Carb is great I get way better mileage out of the new one. My old one was in very bad shape though, was leaking gas into the manifold, flat spots ect.

They just put new gaskets and seats and whatnot into them, same thing you can do at home with a screwdriver.

Yea I found its cheaper and easier to just have someone rebuild your old carb. A skilled mechanic will do a better job anyway.

I put a summit rebuilt quadrajet on a 350 crate engine in 2002. I was happy with it. Worked well.

This past weekend I put a Sean Murphy stage one Q-jet and it works perfectly right out the box no adjusting needed. Bad part i had to wait 6 weeks to receive my carb but worth it.
