How much is it worth?

I just recently spotted a 71 or 72 blazer in the back of a used car lot. It has a rusty tailgate and doors. (I didn't look it over very good). 350 automatic, air conditioning. How much would it worth?

It depends. 2wd or 4wd.

The major rust spots to look out for are the windshield frame and the rocker boxes, but now you can get boxes from vendors. I paid $2500 for mine. It needed rockers and I had to replace the bedsides. Mine is a CST 4X4 with 350 and auto and air. I would check it out a little closer might find a deal.

I paid $4000 for mine. It has almost no rust (only in driver side floor board) came with a hard & soft top (hatch is trashed on the hardtop), mild built 350, TH350 w/B&M shifter, NP203 (was originally 307 with 3 speed, Dana20), new 35" tires, nice paint. The interior needs help and the dash wiring was a mess. Prices really vary. I've seen some trucks nicer than mine for less and a lot of trucks in a lot worse shape than mine for more! I paid 2500 for mine and it is in really good shape...

I gave 3800 for mine. It's a '71 307 3-speed 4x4.(now a 4-speed and 205) I bought it from the 2nd owner. It had very little rust. I also got a '71 GMC Jimmy 4x4 307 3-speed for parts. The back of it was full of 67-72 parts. The guy was selling all his chevy stuff. I think I got a little bit of everything.

Dana 20? Really?

I had no idea they were used in these trucks.

I am interested in this...I have heard that the Dana 20 came behind the 250, 292 (Never seen a k5 with one, but Coloradok5.com says its possible), and 307 (in Blazer/Jimmy only), but I would like to know what years? And has the Rockwell ever been spotted in a k5?

bouncytruck 09-17-2003 11:35 AM

As far as I know, they only put the Dana 20 behind the 307/3-speed '69 Blazers. I don't know what it looks like since a PO had aleady made the switch. Rockwell was put behind the SM465 in the pickups up to '69 (they may have gone into the '70's but I don't know.) My buddy has a '66 with a divorced Rockwell. In '69 they were a married unit. I believe the Blazers with the 4 speed all had the NP205.

Dana 20

My 71 Blazer and the spare 71 Jimmy I got where both original and both 307 3-speeds with the Dana 20. The one in the Blazer worked fine. I put the 4-speed in for better towing. The second gear in the 4-speed is lower than the first gear in the 3-speed. The Dana 20 is alot more compact than say a 205.

I didn't know that they carried the Dana 20, the 307 or the 3 speed in '71. Good to know, thanks.
