C-30 twin saddles to single?
82 c-30 crew cab dually. Want to switch from the stock 2 tank system to a single tank. Is it as simple as it seems? Disconnect everything at the selector valve drop 1 tank an reconnect fuel line directly to the tank I want to use?
I would prefer to use the driver tank since it's more convenient to fill and less headache with switch valves sending unit etc. Would give me more room for exhaust and an air tank on the other side. Any help and guidance would be appreciated |
Re: C-30 twin saddles to single?
Not 1 person on here has done a single tank conversion?

Re: C-30 twin saddles to single?
Thanks but I don't want to do a suburban tank I just want to be able to use 1 saddle tank that I already have. Preferably the driver side but either would work. Just how do I eliminate 1 tank and keep everything working properly?

Re: C-30 twin saddles to single?
I just done this a month ago, it wasn't hard but time consuming for me since I put in new fuel lines and was removing my tbi wiring harness. if you want easy, cap your fuel ports going to the passenger tank and remove the tank and lines. Or just connect the the fuel lines from the driver tank to the lines past the selector valve.
Are the fuel pumps in the tanks? |
Re: C-30 twin saddles to single?
I bought my C30 with only one tank and it was setup with the selector valve zip-tied out of the way and the lines were spliced directly together from the single tank to the engine where they would otherwise connect to selector valve.

Re: C-30 twin saddles to single?
If it were my truck, I would hook up both tanks and make them functional. There really are not than many parts involved, and your truck will use a lot of gas, so two tanks are nice to have.

They are really quite simple after you look at them. All of the parts for the 2nd generation NL2 dual tank system are still available. There's even a guy on the board that makes the whole NL2 sub-harness but I doubt you need that. Usually it's the dash switch... Get the ON-ON 1987 TBI dash switch. It's less obnoxious to switch tanks when you don't have to hold the switch down till it's done switching. Not sure what bonehead thought a momentary switch was needed. The valve already has an off switch inside that trips as soon as the valve shuttle has completed its' travel. |
