The little things !!
1 Attachment(s)
Did a little clean up today. Also got carpet in and heater all done and working. Cleaned up some wiring under the dash. Trying to get up the nerve to order the 700r4 transmission to replace the powerglide... lol ..
Any recommendations on a transmission supplier? |
Re: The little things !!
Bought my Tremec from Summit Racing. Never had problems with their service. Truck looks good! :chevy:

Re: The little things !!
Good looking truck! Go with someone you trust on the trans, it isn't anything that different so lots of options out there.

Any recommendations on a transmission supplier? http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/ here is a bit of infor for you to before you buy the 700r4 with a 700r4 you have to do things like shorten the drive shaft and make other mods to get one in and also the shift from 1st to 2nd is such a long drop in rpms i really dont much car for it kinda feels like a slosh box to me . but if you go with a 200 4r its the same length as your power glide so no shorten of the shaft and the it shifts like a TH 350 dose and 4th is still a great over drive they can be built nasty if need be as you will see on this site .. i had 200 4r in my old Chevelle 383 stroker 400 + HP and its took a nasty beating i would say this is the best bang for your buck and to go to these people |
Re: The little things !!
Where in Texas are you? If in the dfw area, i can pm you a member here and a very good shop. ( he works there)

Re: The little things !!
I agree with having a transmission built locally if at all possible. It is much easier to deal with should a problem arise.

Re: The little things !!
Thanks for all the info... Time to shop..

Re: The little things !!
Yes, go with a local builder. I got burned by "reputable shop" away from my area. Took my 700r4 to this shop 3 hours away and had it built to handle power. Brought it home, installed and the thing wouldn't move. Spoke with the owner over the phone and took it back. They "went through it" again, brought it back home and installed...same thing, wouldn't move. Went BACK to the transmission shop and the building was closed with a "for lease" sign on the door. Very expensive lesson. Heaven forbid I run into any of those guys again...

Re: The little things !!
I pulled out my powerglide and installed a 700R4. I love the change and the drop from 1st to 2nd isn't too bad for me.
I did a lot of research on this site and took notes. I then went to three local shops and started asking questions. The shop I chose was answering the questions on my list before I even asked them, so he knew exactly what was needed to get the job done. Love the mod, go for it. |
Re: The little things !!
We would line to see your list of questions.....I might be in same boat....
