New to the site, I'm hooked on these trucks, and really want my own- I see this sitting in a field. I think it's got disc front. I didn't crawl around it, but it's got a steering column that had either an auto or a manual shift- and the floor has a shifter, so it's been molested.
Can anyone make me smart on the year, and whether it's worth fixing up? The body is in really rough shape, and would need a frame off restoration. I've attached a few pics. Thanks, Grin |

I think you could do better. Rust is the biggest obstacle on these trucks and can cost more to fix than the trucks worth.
Start with a budget figure and work up from there. |

Most any 67-72 trucks you find around here are going to be ruff unless you find one that's been garaged or was brought in from out west or down south. Check out the frame really good ! Gary |

Welcome to the best Website on the Internet. With some patience and time ( and you will get all the help you need from this site ) you should be able to buy a decent running driving truck for 7,500/10,000. Looking at the pics of this short box it looks like parts truck to me and after you spend 10,000 on it you'l still be sinking another 5k into it to make it drivable.

Its not in the worst shape I've seen, but I'm sure there is a better one out there you can find. I'll say it can probably be fixed, but whether it is worth fixing, I don't know. I was kinda screwed over with mine, I paid way more than I should have for it, as the excitement built up in me and I didn't have the common sense to looks it all over at the time. Make sure you look in-depth at them before you purchase one. I was too dumb to realize the giant hole I had in my floor this whole time lmao.

Like the others have said; "Probably not the right truck to do a frame off restoration on". Even free, it's probably not right. But, if you just wanted to get it running and use as a dump runner around town truck looks like it's all there.
To make it look like some of the really nice ones on here or at the shows you would be better served to keep looking of a solid starter platform. IMO |

You know it might a fun truck to experiment with. You can get your feet wet with this one and then use it for parts when you find the right truck to restore.

Yeah if you have family out in AZ that would be the way to go. Get a truck with a nice body & frame and you would be so much better off. Even if mechanically it was shot, rust repair usually goes far beyond what is visible !
There's a guy on the old rte 3 in Merrimack by the old Zeilers ( I think that's what it was called ) that had a couple of these trucks in his yard, one was gold coloered LWB that was very solid. Have you seen those ? Gary |

Unless you have a ton of time in the shop I'd say pass and I COULD speak for all the body shop owners[ but I won't] when i say don't drag that junk to my shop. but I would never say that even if I wanted too. You just need to be aware of the two tons of work it is gonna take to get it to a work truck level.Now welcome to the site and enjoy your truck when you find one and I'll be glad to help you. Jim

If you can get it for a good price, I would go through the brakes,fuel system,new lines etc and make it dependable mechanical.
Get some 20 or 18 wheels off eBay or Craigslist and set it on bags and run the patina look.it would problly be fun,and look sweet |

That one looks like a lot of work.....
Depends on what price you can get it for. I assume you have the covered space to do a tear down and all the work it will need. But you have to get it cheap. |

Meh, I'm kind of an advocate for the ugly ducklings. Sure its rotten in a few spots but getting them driveable again is rewarding. If it were me I'd concentrate on getting it road worthy and safe. Keeping them on the road is whats important. In my mind that's better than letting it rot more and eventually going to scrap. The cab is usually where you'll consider writing one off. All the other body parts are easily replaced. I'd only have second thoughts if it was rusted out over the visors. Discount places like RockAuto are a big help in getting affordable parts. It doesn't have to be a show winner to be a great truck.
