Progress on my 77

Almost ready to drop the engine into my 77 Big 10 so I cleaned up and painted the engine bay. It isn't perfect but it's much better than the 1/2" of grease that was piled on the cross member before.

Here's a problem though. At some point the battery leaked and rusted out the bottom of the core support and front of wheel tub. Are those parts from an 87 the same?

Nothing really special

.040 over bore
Dished Speed Pro pistons
'99 Vortec heads
Comp XE256H Cam

Backed up by a 4L60E with a standalone harness controlling it.

Looks killer. Which heads exact did you chose and what intake/carb? Do you have any more pics of the truck itself?

Those are 906's. They were free so I used them. They only had 6000 miles on them after a complete rebuild.

Intake is an Edelbrock 2116. Planning on re-using the orginal q-jet. We'll see if it works ok with the mods.

Trying out the newly painted wheels to see if I like them enough to have them powder coated.........

.......and here it sits 5 months later. Progress has been slow due to prepping our house for sale. Engine & trans is in. Just need to finish hooking everything up. The 4L60E controller and cooler lines needed some modding which has taken more time than I wanted.

The battery tray and wheel tub are easy to find repops for at places like classic industries.

Already picked up a battery tray from LMC and I have a good used wheel tub. Also have to fix the core support before I put it back in.
