I bet the seller doesn't actually want to sell the truck... add up the receipts, show the number to the, ah, household member that wants the truck gone, list it for that much, and keep the truck! :)

Re: overpriced CL find. (not mine, obviously)

I saw a CL ad on a 1968 Chevy panel, 4x4. Guy had it on there for $25K. I thought, "surely a mistype."

I called him and my impression was, the ad was a rouse, to fool his wife into thinking "he just can't sell it."

Those are rare and neat but not in that condition for such a price.

So perhaps that is the case here.

it's a very nice truck if it's your style - between hours and $, could have that much in it easily, especially if it was farmed out to a shop. Hard to put a $ figure on your own work. I always feel like I have $50k in my trucks, so I stop counting - then I sell em for around $6k...

Re: overpriced CL find. (not mine, obviously)

Ya know a lot of people have more money than experiance building trucks and to me this looks like a high end build that he had done. i know a place locally that does nothing but high end builds, most well over 100k so i tend to believe if he's got the recipts its probably accurate. but i'd be asking for the recipts for the rest of it too if i was a serious buyer.. That said i got better things to spend that much money on, if i ever did higher work out i'd wanna keep it around 25k.

EDIT: I agree with CG's post too.

Re: overpriced CL find. (not mine, obviously)

No comment on what he priced his truck at I made that mistake once and got suspended for 3 months . That being said I've seen a number of trucks recently that have had serious bids above $50,000.00 that didn't make the reserve ? All short /dropped/air bagged/restomods . I'm building 1 now myself but the time and expense and untold hours to get a almost 50 year old truck to the $50,000.00 level is all consuming But it is a sign of the times and I expect to see the prices continue to climb to never before seen values . Think 60's Camaros 10 years ago going to unbelivable prices and I used to buy them running and driving in the early 70's for less than $500.00 ? :chevy: You can still find these trucks in rebuildable condition for little money .Consider buying a few and holding them for 5 years and watch what happens ? Better than money in the bank !

The amount of labor in that truck can never be recouped in the sale, even at that price, I'm sure he has more into it. Restomods are a niche market. It is one amazing truck and will take that one person who cant live without it! You gotta admire the dedication and attention to detail, it's truly amazing

This truck will sell to the right buyer. Not my thang but I think he's at least 80k into it.
I agree with grumpy, these trucks are highly popular and only climbing...

Ya know, I think he's violating Federal Safety Regulations by removing side marker reflectors and lights from a 1971 truck. Some one should report him to the DOT.

Re: overpriced CL find. (not mine, obviously)

For the parts used on that truck and the level of quality at which it appears that truck was built, I think its actually a pretty good deal for someone who's into that style of truck and doesn't have the skills or time to build one.

I wonder if he'll take $64,900.00? I may be interested???

It may seem like a lot for a truck but if you are buying something at barret Jackson prices, this would be the truck I'd buy. Super sharp and a lot of nice attention to detail. If I was honestly going to spend that much thoe, I'd honestly buy a lot more projects instead . but that's just me haha

Nice truck. Not sure if he will get his asking price, but I have no doubt that he has more than the asking price in it, especially if he farmed it out. I've done most of the work myself on my green 68 and the parts list adds up fast....

Porterbuilt Chassis -$8K
Big brakes - $3K
Accuair - $3K
Wheels and tires - $3K

So $17K on a rolling chassis and that's barely getting started...

Re: overpriced CL find. (not mine, obviously)

I saw that on Craigs a few minutes ago. Thought about sharing it with the group as I also know that it would be really easy to have way more than the asking price into that truck if it was built in a shop and it looks like way more than a homebuilt restomod.
Really sharp truck. It will probably be at Goodguys this weekend and I will try to look for it.
It's way outta my price range but to someone who has a collection and wants a stunning truck to go into it this asking price is a drop in the bucket. My buddy owns a super high end restoration shop in TN. He did a color change restoration to an almost perfect car (Maserati)and the final bill was just a hair past $65K. When you will only settle for perfection (not me or my friends) and have a whole bunch of zeros at the end of your bank balance 65K is nothing. Like 65 bucks to me and you.

I think it's very rude to downtalk someones ride just cause it's expensive and wayyyyyy more than you (we) can afford. We should just appreciate beauty when we see if. That truck is stunning in pics and I bet really nice in person too.

Like I said earlier; Goodguys is in town this weekend and their are buyer who come to this event every year from Canada and other parts to buy cars. I sold a 70 Chevelle SS about 6 years ago to a group of 3 buyers from Canada. They came down to this show and bought 5 cars to take home.
Lastly, "You can't ever get 50K if you ask 50K" Gotta start somewhere.

Who puts a $65k vehicle on Craigslist?

True, some will never get it. The title alone instills criticism. But I will say, with all the shaved this and shaved that I doubt the present owner has hair growing anywhere on his body

I'm going to list my truck for 100K on CL and see how long it takes for someone here to start a thread about it

Used to be a rule and still should be : If you cant say something nice dont say anything at all. I like the truck even though I could not afford it .

Re: overpriced CL find. (not mine, obviously)

I don't think anyone was really bashing the truck.

The real problem is that is not a Craigslist price. That's a Barrett Jackson or Mecum price, but $65k might be a stretch even there. The build quality looks to be there, but those bidders would be expecting to see an LSx engine in it.

The right auction with two egos comparing johnson's could bring $65k for that truck.
