radial tires

i just finished converting a old drag truck [72 c10 509 big block] to a street truck front suspension mostly new, 4.5 drop with those skinny Mickey Thompson sportsman bias ply tires on the front.do you guys think the truck would handle better with radial tires on the front? it has the wide hosier radials on the back. thanks, here is a old photo

Re: radial tires

Bias ply on the rear is liveable since all the low speed vibrations are taken up by the suspension, as is much of the wobble. I personally wouldn't run a bias ply on the front if a radial is available to you. The weight bias on these trucks means those little fronts are doing all of your turning and most of your braking. On the street, the radials offer longevity and control benefits.

My truck is basically the opposite, a street truck slowly working into a drag truck.

I had a 205 radial in the front and went to a 28x5 bias in the front.I still do some street driving but was never expecting to do much high speed cornering.

Re: radial tires

Vw size radial would be close to what you have in Bias ply tires.
