Can you run late model radial tires without tubes on orginal wheels?

Need a short term solution before buying new wheels and tires

Yep. I'm running 235/75/15 radials on original tires, no tubes, no problem

I run radials on my stock steel 64 chevelle wheels with no problem. Only time I used tubes on the 59 was when I had split rims.

I used some original 56 chevy car wheels on the front of my truck . the centers were rivoted to the wheel. I coated the rivot on the inside with 5 min epoxy . holding air great

Yes, it will work. I am using temporary spares from a 2003 Ford full size in tubeless configuration on the original wheels for my '36 Plymouth! There is an issue to be aware of though. A tube type wheel is not designed to "hold" the tire bead against the wheel when the tire is flat. So if the tire runs low on air it may "pop off" the edge of the wheel and then be difficult to reseat.

Some old timers will say a tube style rim does not have a safety bead to hold the new modern radials on the bead. The point they make is a tight turn could pop the bead causing some immediate steering challenges... :Own:
Since I am not an old timer...just yet, ;) I reserve judgement. Just information sharing.

FWIW. I am going to run tubes on my 59 rims because they have a 5" bead width AND I'm running the Coker Classics that have a 7.5" sidewall. Not to mention that Coker claims this particular tire requires a tube.

Not my truck (I wish!!) but it does have the style and size of rims/tires I am going to run, therefore you can see why I'm running tubes.

I like safe rather than sorry. Just be sure you and yours are safe. :)
