bad/good day at pick and pull
went to stockton, ca pick and pull today, they only had one 67-72-a 71 GMC one ton dually that bare bones to start with and was picked clean by the time i got there, BAD.:waah:
did come across an E250 ford van with a full set (5), 16 x 7 steel rims, in good condition AND bald tires. thanks to member joesjunk for telling us about these rims that will accept our 3/4 ton 4x4 caps and allow us to run larger tires. they only charged 12 bucks each for the rims and could not charge for the bald tires-even though the clerk tried. GOOD:metal: |
Re: bad/good day at pick and pull
Any day at the junkyard is still a good day. Good deal on the wheels.
I scored some pretty good parts today myself... |
Re: bad/good day at pick and pull
I went up to the Livrat pick and pull today. Got some interesting 68 stuff. And I picked up a pair of 62 Studebaker bucket seats and console. Ill add them to my collection of buckets. Now I have two pair, these and a cool set of swivel buckets ... remember those too much stuff?

Re: bad/good day at pick and pull
As a kid my buddies and I used to go to the JY's weekly. Anymore I just don't have the interest. For the prices they charge for some things anymore I can sit on my couch and buy it on eBay or here on the forums for about the same price and not have to bust my knuckles getting it. But I haven't been to a JY in a few years and I've been itching to so maybe sometime I will. There's nothing like seeing some good old fashioned wrecks. And the occasional bloody interior is enough to freak you out sometimes.

Re: bad/good day at pick and pull
Got an email from Pick n Pull stating everything was going to be 50 percent off this weekend. I thought it would be a good excuse to get out of the house since I would go since I didn't have to work.
We'll it's been raining with temps in the 30s in Kansas City since the night before Thanksgiving. Supposed to continue all weekend, so don't think I'll be taking advantage of the sale. |

yeah, i was happy about the wheels, been watching craigslist and it seems as if wrecking yards are all that ever post the big ford vans and they usually want 50-60 per wheel. i was damn glad i had my sawzall since the spare had a locking crank up device-i opened a hole in the floor and lowered it down from inside, i didn't want to cut the cable in case someone else might need it. all 5 wheels are really clean and the same color gray. i saw several more 16 x 7's on other vans/trucks but no matching sets, just one or two here and there. next time i go i will take a portable bead breaker and dismount the tires so i don't have to argue with a clueless clerk about the tires being worn past the legal limit and illegal for them to sell. |
