pics of your alternators mounted pls
Im getting a nice polished alternator, and my mounting bracket is a big ole ugly black one so I'm looking for some ideas for passenger side mounting, and part numbers in case I see one I wanna use. thanks guys

Re: pics of your alternators mounted pls
I just ordered this one. A bit dated looking, but I'm using camel hump heads (no holes in the head for mounts) and needed something stronger than the one little arm reaching way out to the alternator.

Wow that looks awesome! I Like that it's got a mount on both sides so the alternator can't turn and make annoying belt noises. Can you use this with any head? |
Re: pics of your alternators mounted pls
I think so. The head in this picture looks like it's the newer style (with bolt holes in the head) so I think it just uses water pump bolts. As long as you've got the long style water pump, which you probably do.
I am putting mine in a SBC swap jeep with a winch, so I was trying to remove all doubt of a squeaking alternator belt under heavy load. |

And just in case anyone is going to ask- The short water pumps only have bolt holes to mount the water pump to the motor. Long pumps have additional bolt holes. |

Good deal!
Nice adjustable setup without having to pry on the alternator. |

I am running an Edelbrock Victor Jr. Intake o. My 383, and the thermostat housing sets much higher than a stock small block, so I couldn't use the factory upper bracket. I ended up making a strut/turnbuckle to tension/support the alternator. I did however have to use the lower bracket that bolts to the water pump, and since I used spherical bearings(rod ends) I had to use 1/2"-20 right hand and 1/2"-20 left hand thread taps in order to make the turnbuckle.here are a few pics..... I also had to fabricate a small bracket on the top ear of the alternator because the rod end was a bit large to center the bolt on the alternator.

man these are nice setups. I can't wait to get this big stock mount off and put a nice chrome alt and bracket on. Im getting a nice aluminum radiator too with electric fans, should really dress up the engine compartment. Plus ill be doing the work on this part of the truck, its within my realm of mechanic skills, so it will extra cool
