yes they go through , you may be able to grab the end and unscrew it , unless its rusted solid

I just replaced the gas pedal on my 1970 C-10, and I found the pivot studs at The Truck store in the OC. They are just a couple of dollars.. Good luck

a left handed drill bit usually works really well to remove those sorts of things, unless they are rusted solid. The problem is finding them, not everywhere has them

The guy with spares always lives on the other coast!
You might also be able to tack a nut onto whatever remains - I even got a rusted seat belt bolt out that once, and I didn't think there was any hope. I think the heat actually does a lot of it. It's also -possible- that some is poking out the underside. You could tack a nut onto that, or maybe there's enough to grab with vice grips (doubt it, threads aren't that long). Worst case would be what I think you're saying, knock it off entirely and tack a nut on there as a new receiver, but that'll work too. |

For some trucks (mine) I think it should be a maintenance procedure to put a drop of oil or anti-rust on each side of the threads of these accelerator pedal posts once a year.. such a PITA if they go wrong and it only takes a minute...

I broke mine. Drilled it out, recapped it and put in a repop. Then I got smart and converted over to cable throttle.
