Are the Door Panels the same??

...wondering if the 67-71 door panels will interchange..I have a 67 GMC and I really like the 69/70 pattern..plus I'm going to install power windows so I guess my concern is if the door handle hole matching up, right?

yes and yes. they will interchange between 67 and 71. they are all the same steel panel, just have different vinyl coverings. so the door handle locations should match up.

'72 door panels are the same size length and height but differ in depth. In '72 the General went to a plastic sculpted or contoured panel which necessitates use of a deeper or longer window crank mechanisim. Also uses a '72 only arm rest that will not inter-change with previous years.

Also there is a differance in '72 only doors. They will have a factory drilled or punched hole just below the vent window. Uses a screw to better support the vent window channel.

When you say deeper or longer crank mechanism, Is that inside the door? because I'm gonna have power windows installed..do you think they will work on my 67 that has original metal panels now? Please excuse me Ironhorse, I'm old and thick headed..Thanks!

Re: Are the Door Panels the same??

The window crank shaft actually projects out further from the face of the door because the '72 only door panel is contoured to fit the arm rest which projects away from the door. Not sure but think the differance is almost an 1'' in length. Search " 1972 door panel " and a pic will show better than I am explaining most likely. As they say, 1 pic is worth a 1,000 jumbled words,
