4.8 Swap/Arctic White C10
finally doing a ls swap in my 81 c10 (87 front clip)! Been wanting to do this for a looooong time. I have a donor truck, it's a 2004 model with a 4.8 in it. it was my work truck and i will be swapping that motor in it. So far I almost have the motor out of it and i've already made my wiring harness stand alone and had my PCM flashed. The c10 currently has a 98 model vortec 350 in it, with carb/intake/headers and my rear main seal is leaking oil bad, and a TH400/stall/shift kit.
I have some other stock ls truck parts, and plans for the truck for now is to keep the TH400 but i'm leaving the transmission wires and plugs for a 4l80 hookup attached to the harness for future use if i decide to go 4l80 later. It's going to have a returnless fuel rail out of my 04, and cable driven out of a earlier ls intake. Motor is going to be stock for now, but plans later will be to build a turbo kit for it. I have some questions about the swap, maybe yall could help. The truck has an electric inline fuel pump already, but im assuming its only at like 5-6psi sense it's carb equipped motor? I'm planing on running the bosch 044 inline pump, would I still need a sump out of an 87 truck or not since it already has an electric fuel pump on the truck. Also do i need a different oil pan or not? I've heard different things and just not sure on this I know i'll need to notch the frame for the A/C, but are there any part # for A/C hoses/PS hoses/Radiator hoses that i'll need to get? http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/x...psns7bygwm.jpg http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/x...psvl1maaj2.jpg http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/x...psvcjwezdx.jpg http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/x...pss5fe8u27.jpg Donor Truck http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/x...psach9z508.jpg http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/x...psnap1sxsj.jpg |

Your on your way! Start a formal build in the builds section if you haven't yet. It'll be one simple place to post all your progress, and a reference point anytime questions come up (for you, or for us).

Nice start to your build. In regards to your fuel tank/pump question, I bought a new '87 tank and sender and installed a high pressure pump so I could have a sump in tank pump set up. I was concerned about starvation at lower fuel levels, that was my reasoning for the sump. Pic in my swap thread.

My PCM came in yesterday, and I got the motor out tonight. I still need to get my oil pan, adapter plates, fuel pump and other stuff. Haven't ordered any of that yet

Re: 4.8 Swap/Arctic White C10
any updates? I used dirty dingo slider mounts in mine. I would also replace the factory motor mounts while you are there.
