I am redoing my front end and can't seem to find out what or where to get this gasket, not sure if it's needed or what the purpose of this one is for.

i have a 71 GMC longhorn 3/4 ton I disassembled the spindle and found this cork like gasket behind the dust cover for the disk brakes up front. one is reusable but the other is shoot.

what is it and does anyone have a part number for it?

second pic is of where i found it on the spindle.

Re: another what is this gasket question

I have a 69 with drums, so I'm certainly no expert on these. However, here are some previous threads that mention the gaskets. One says ECE sells them, but I searched their current online catalog and found nothing about them being available unless you buy their backing plate kit. You may want to call them though.

If nothing else this post will move this thread to the top.

ok now I feel like a idiot

I went to there site and looked up disk brake parts, scrolled down and saw the disk brake dust shields and then clicked on the drop down menu and there they are a pair for 2.00 part number 03-140579378 for 71 to 87 trucks

I just never thought to click on the drop menu...
