Whats the deal with the power windows?

My windows roll up and down soo sooo soooooo slow. What gives? Do I need a new motor? Does it need LUBE?

Any remedys for this?

Lube may help, higher output Alt may also help I have heard.

If both are same speed, doubt it is the motors, I put a after market motor on my blazer pass side and it's slower than factory drivers side.

My friend took the plugs out of the back of the door panels on his '79 K5. The ones that plug into the switch. He took a wire brush and cleaned up the connectors, plugged them back in and they worked alot better.

Just something he did.

I changed my motors a little while back because mine were slow too. They work great now. I went with GM motors, which are high, real high compared to Autozone or Advance. But I've heard some say the Autozone ones didn't help this much. I'm real happy with mine now.

Lubing and greasing won't help much. It's not really worth your time. Unless you have some totaly worn out window channels, none of that will help. The motors are old and start to loose their power over time. Mine zoom up and down now. :)

mine have gotten a bit slower.... my passenger side now only rolls down about 5" before it stops and makes a loud clicking sound. also makes the clicking sound when it gets completely rolled up. took door apart to look at it and as all of youll know there arent many holes in the door to look at it. so once i get a dremel i will cut a larger hole closer to the motor so i can see whats going on and will help me when i get a chance to change it.
