found this '68 long bed step side truck for sale on Craigslist in Stockton, not mine but saw some posts about how rare these are or were, so just wanted to share some pics

here is the one ive been toyin with.
i find it pretty cool it was only on the road till 1983(last inspection) then it got put to work in the woods hauling firewood.
this thing is like driveing a tractor you can pull out pretty easy in 3rd gear.

i have most of the parts(need wood and strips) to complete a 8' stepper witch may go on the black truck behind the 9'er it has a whooped fleet bed on it now but it is a dumper and really beat up.

Looks good. Been a couple threads about it. Long beds rule! :metal:

Hmmm, I've never seen the step bumper braces before. What would their purpose be?

My guess is that they are add on. To protect those bull frog tail lights.

I saw that CA white lwb too and posted about it, glad you saved some pics for us.

I wish my truck was a lwb.......I think it looks more "balanced" and you can haul more stuff.

No. I actually just bought it about 5-6 months ago. The guy I purchased it from was asking somewhere in the 5k range for it.

ok I remember when that truck first came around it was in the Bronx and sold for 1000 then that guy put the aluminum wheels on it and was asking 5k me and ss tim talked about this truck the one reason I was hesitant to grab it was the non original spid label. but I do have a soft spot for a 9 foot bed.

mine would be cooler if it had one of those beefy back bumpers and not the wimpy one:lol:

i did take it for a short ride tonite just too warm it up.
i havent checked the rear gear ratio in it yet but wow it must be low.

What a great looking truck! It probably has less rust (and bondo) than my truck and if my truck was finished (running) I'd try and buy it.

Never gave this a thought on why this hole for the tail lite harness to pass through the lower Bedside was there.

Non of my other step besides have it.

Then it dawned on me duh. It's cause the truck it came from must of had a big bad wrap around step bumper on it.
The small hole was for the back up wire


Now I gotta go look to see if my tail lites in my stash all have the same plug/grommet deally.
