Crank trigger swap question
 
Good morning everyone.
A few years back I bought a LS2 out of a TB SS but it is a 24x reluctor wheel motor. How hard is it to convert to a 58x wheel?

I remember that I was going to have to have someone special change it to 58x.... is that still the case?
Lingenfelter has replaced 58x wheels for 21$. The newest posts I have found are like 2009.

The plan was for this to go into my 56 Chevy Bel-air with a 4L80E.

Can I just pull the crank and remove/repress the new wheel on?

Thats pretty much what it takes, pulling the crank and pressing off the 24x wheel and pressing on the 58x wheel with the special tool.

Why do you need 58x however? Lingenfelter has a signal converter box.

What is the tool needed?

The converter box if I am not mistaken is for running a 58x motor in a 24x vehicle. Not a 24 motor in a 58x vehicle. Correct?

So I'm assuming you've already commited to the 58x electronics? If this is going into a swap, then just run the 24x computer.

Actually I have not bought anything for this. I just thought the 58X was a little more user-friendly. It's been a while since I looked into it. Heck MSD Atomic EFI wasn't even out the last time I looked into this. Does anyone know what stock computer works with a 6.0 24X and a 4L80E transmission?

Any GenIII computer with work with 24x. 12200411 is the most common. I'd recommend sticking with the 24x since your engine is already 24x, and the gen3 stuff is cheap and easy to come by, heck you can walk into any salvage yard and trip over at least 10-20 Gen3 PCMs in trucks, late 00+ S10's used them too

In terms of user friendly; HP Tuners interfaces with either virtually the same. The newer stuff has things like Virtual VE and a few other intricacies that are a bit harder to understand for the home tuner.

The GenV stuff is a different ballpark entirely. DI means messing with injection windows, multi table VVE etc.
