frame paint queston
I have been around for awhile don't post much but will soon been doing rust repair for a year now. anyway i'm about ready to paint my frame and been seeing a lot of you guys removing the cross members is that to get debris and rust out or upgrades. I will be using por 15 and want it to last and be done right

Re: frame paint queston
This would do better if it wasnt in the Build section...
But if you remove all cross members, its tough to get the frame back together square. I would suggest building a jig if you plan on doing this... I would also suggest using this http://www.masterseriescoatings.com/...oducts/primer/ instead of POR... its a two part system and its just a better product than POR... Go read up on it... |
Re: frame paint queston

Re: frame paint queston
The only reason to remove the crossmembers is when doing some kind of modification, such as a porterbuilt install. I have painted my frame with POR15, and am happy with the results, but it is important to prep the frame according to the POR15 instructions

POR15 On my 71, so far I'm happy, Remember to cover everything you do not want POR15 on Like the Floor, Tools, Clothing and last but not least Yourself. if you spill or drip and you clean it up right away its fine but if it dries your screwed, I got it on my shop floor, on my clothes, tools and my Hands and Arms, I was wearing short sleeve t-shirt that day, tried everything to get off of my skin to no avail it wore off in about 2 weeks.
