Air door part question
I am replacing the fresh air door under the cowl. There is a plastic piece with a hole in it that the pin on the door goes in on the back side. The plastic piece is loose and moves around. I have looked in the LMC and truck shop catalogs and haven't seen where I can get a new one. Does anyone know if this is available anywhere?

Re: Air door part question
Not available. You'll have to fab one. There is a thread on here that shows several ideas.
The plastic piece is secured with a plastic nut on the inside of the cab behind the glovebox. Have you checked to see if the nut is missing or loose? May be as easy as that. |
Re: Air door part question
No I didn look behind it to see but the heater box and glove box are out so it will be easy to check . Thanks

Re: Air door part question
The fresh air door on the cowl is available, and includes the cast-in (molded-in) axle part that goes into one of the receivers. If I'm reading this right you need the white plastic piece itself?
If it's jus a wear issue, can you sleeve the door axle somehow to make it bigger so it's a better fit? Just a random thought... |
Re: Air door part question
I bought a new door and noticed the plastic piece was sloppy when I went to put it in. I will check the back nut when I get home from work and see if it is loose. Researching this today I also found out that I am missing a spring in there also that is not available 😳

Re: Air door part question
Can someone explain where this is located? Is it an ac only thing maybe? I have a non ac truck and the only fresh air flap doors that I know of are in the heater box then there are one on each side that open and close with the pull/push rod in the kick panel. If there is some other door/flap I want to be sure to check it out before finishing up the restore. Also how does it open and close?
