Difference between 3/4T and 1T Longhorn
Seems like my truck has 1T frame rails, a full-floating Dana 60, and almost everything the 1T has except the 1T front control arms.
Is that the only difference? It stymies me that they'd actually make two different models for only that change, so maybe spring rates are different? Do any of the Longhorn experts know the specific differences between the 3/4T and 1T Longhorns? Thanks! |
Re: Difference between 3/4T and 1T Longhorn
I picked up, years ago, a 1971, 1 ton longhorn frame, the only difference I saw between that and my 3/4 longhorn was the rear spring pack, with an auxillary overload and I think the front coils were a little larger in diameter. Still had a dana 60 rear with 4.10s. My 3/4 had 3.54s but it also had a 396 with a th400. Don't know exactly what engine was in the rolling frame I got, but if I had to guess, probably a 350, judging by the auto linkage

See post 2 from SSTim, it outlines any frame diffs (and looks like C20/30 longhorn share the same frame): http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=560172

So same frame, different springs perhaps. What about the control arms, are they actually any different? Or just the coil springs up front?

Re: Difference between 3/4T and 1T Longhorn
I have a 1 ton 1972 Longhorn frame with box, and two 3/4 Longhorns project trucks, one complete with big block and auto. 1 ton has a Eaton ho 52, one 3/4 has a Eaton, the last one has a Dana 60. Frame all look the same, front suspencion all look the same, only thing different is the 1 ton has more leave packs. Or better yet take a road trip and come on down and see for yourself what the difference might be. Also all three up for sale, package price!!
