Gmc vs Chevy sheetmetal

1 Attachment(s)
Ok I searched Google here but no dice. I have a 49 gmc cab, doors and most importantly title. I just picked up a 53 Chevy 3100 full body no motor to complete the gmc. But I noticed that on LMC gmc front sheetmetal is different. (Turn signal and grill) anything else?

I thought I would have to just replace the tailgate but nope. Here are the pic from the catalog. All things being equal I wish it was a Chevy and be done with it lol.

Ps. I know gmc had their own motor too. I have a 235 Chevy in it.

I think the fenders might be a little different also where the grill attaches?

Just run the whole chevy front clip...mounts to gmc cab the same. Title will show its a gmc, people will think its a chevy...lol

its actually 49-53, 47-48 gmc had a slightly different grille and bumper that mimicked the larger gmcs.

its preference, the chevy front end will fit a gmc that doesnt have a gmc motor any more, otherwise you will need to make accomodations for the longer gmc motor. from what I remember yours already has a chevy motor.

you will need the WHOLE chevy front end. also, you will need you make the chevy core support mount up to the gmc frame crossmember which is different. the gmc motor is about 5 inches longer.

I personally like the gmc front ends over the chevy. my 47 was gorgeous with that big chrome grille and I have a 49-53 GMC front clip in the classifieds that I will probably end up keeping and finding a cab for because I like them so much.

The difference in 47/53 fenders is the the hole for the park light in the GMC

The 54 GMC fender has a large indent for the 54 park light but still will work with the early grills either Chevy or GMC. This one had piece of tin pop riveted over the indent to run it on a Chevy when I got it.

This is a 54 Chevy fender. Note the curved opening around the grill area and the indent for the 54 park light. It won't work with the 47/53 grills.
