Let's see them steel floors
I have a steel floor and also have a box with a wood floor. They both need work and I'm not sure which to use. :chevy:

Re: Let's see them steel floors
my vote is the bed with the wood floor.
they can be done many differnt ways to add uniqueness to the truck. there are so many differnt types of wood grains that can grab your attention and just say "look at me". something a plain steel floor doesnt do. sorry i dont have a steel bed you would wanna see. but the one i do have would grab your attention cause you would wander how it got so warped:lol: |
Re: Let's see them steel floors
My view is probably not as popular as having a wooden bed, but...
Wooden beds are easier to restore. As such, a flawless metal bed is something that I always notice and can make a truck stand out in my mind. Metal beds are often overlooked during a restoration whereas it seems wood beds are always part of the restoration |

First and foremost; "Your truck, do whatever you want".
My vote is for the steel floor. Just from a standpoint that "these are trucks" and we should be able to at least haul some lawn chairs or a cooler to the car show. At least. I did a two trucks years ago that the bed floor was as beautiful as a piano when finished. Never hauled anything in the bed, ever, after done. J.M.O. |

Re: Let's see them steel floors
If you are considering either, why not go by your intended use? Is it going to haul things or be a garage queen? Parked outside or always under cover? Planning on a tonneau or bed cover? Are cosmetics more important than usefulness?

Good condition Steel has my vote.

Re: Let's see them steel floors
My steel is shot and I am not sure if it is worth patching. I like see the posts of flat steel or diamond plate steel replacement floors. I have also seen someone use composite decking.

Re: Let's see them steel floors
My 70 CST has a wood floor in it now but I'm hoping to change it out for an all steel one when I get to that point. It's like Special-K said, you have to ask yourself what's your intended use.

Re: Let's see them steel floors
If you plan on making it a work truck, then i recommend a steel floor, they are stronger, and more forgiving. If it's a show truck, then i would use the wood bed, i think they look better. That's my recommendation
