Advice on removing rear center cab mount 1948 Chevy pickup??
I have a 1948 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup and having trouble getting the cab off. The rear mount seems to be the problem. Any recommendations? Also is that part available new? Thanks

I was able to remove the nuts from underneath and the nut that is parallel on the mount. Cab still seems super solid on the frame.

rust "sticktion" I had that problem on the front mount on my 49, this picture is of a cherry picker picking up the entire truck with the cab completely unbolted.
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...h/IMG_9304.jpg the rust swells the bolts. you need a jack on the bolt sticking through, or to just slice the bolt with a sawzall or cut off wheel between the cab and the mount. Thats what did it for me, I couldnt believe those two little 3/8th bolts were supporting the entire truck like that but they were. |

I appreciate all the help, thank you both! I'll be working on it Friday and see how it goes. If the rear mount is bad due to me or just its age is it available?

I was not able to source one when I built my '47. I just converted it to corner mounts when I built mine..... but I was not going for 'stock' anyway.
