Chevrolet {100 years}

Wondering what your thoughts are and will Chevy put out a special anniversary edition. I've been thinking about a new truck but would be upset if i bought one now then they put out a 67/68 replica. I think that would be awesome. What will they do ?

im just guessing but i think it would definitely boost sales if they did.i bet collectors would buy them up . it would be leaving money on the table if they didnt . as far as new vehicles even chevy or gmc trucks i dnt know why anyone would purchase one . they are so over complicated and expensive to fix. id maybe lease one if i had the money but never buy one. carpeted wheel wells just scream rust when you live in ohio.

I'll guarantee it will be a special edition of the current production truck for the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet Trucks.

Re: Chevrolet {100 years}

Maybe a two-tone gold and white. Other than the paint I'm not sure what they could do. It would be cool if they put the LSX 454 in any of there vehicles. They really need to have a performance truck. A few years back Dodge put there SRT motor in the ram that was cool

Gold is representative of 50 year anniversaries. Platinum is the centennial metal.

Let's see a Camaro-like revisiting of 67-68... not into new vehicles, but some seriously retromod styling could change my mind. Not like I could afford one anyway!

Forget the Camaro...

Put a 6.0L in an Impala... make a real SS car.

I couldn't care less about the cars. :) I just meant I'd be curious to see a new truck done up in a similar method to the newer Camaros, Challengers, etc, with inspiration from the classic era, as the OP was sayin'. Of course, they'd still be loaded with computers and plastic... but they'd probably look cool.

Re: Chevrolet {100 years}

One thing's for sure, the 50th anniversary is trumped by the 100th by far...like a half a century. So I seriously doubt anything about the 50th anniversary trucks with be reflected in the 100th Anniversary trucks. I think marking the century is enough to stand those on their own feet

The trucks will get sticker and possibly a unique color. Wouldnt expect much more than that unfortunately.

I asked a local dealer in an email and he said he'd do some research and get back to me. I'll let everyone know if he actually finds out anything!

Re: Chevrolet {100 years}

i agree with special k they'll probably do some special badging, maybe a platinum theme, and a BUNCH of marketing. i don't like buying new vehicles (i'm a cheap skate), but i'm planning to get a new(er) truck in 2 or 3 years so i'm all ears to see what they do.

I have no idea how expensive the newer trucks are to fix. I've had my silverado for eight years and the only problem I've had is the battery died a couple months ago.

Re: Chevrolet {100 years}

Yeah, probably a special paint scheme, stickers/emblems, maybe added features or package, and price. Did GM even do anything for GM's truck company's 100th?

Repairs on new vehicles may not come too often, but when they do it's often thousands vs hundreds. And, often too much for the average Mr. Fix-it to handle. So no alternative. I see cars go to the junkyard because they needed a transmission. That's nuts. Look at repair costs on a Duramax.

Re: Chevrolet {100 years}

Id buy one if it was gold like the 50th with some retro styling , but I seriously doubt it will happen , hay they gave us the SSR , some had 6.0 liters , not exactly what I would call a truck .

Re: Chevrolet {100 years}

I'd love to see something classic style, but to designers, that means just the opposite of what I am thinking!

[DREAM SEQUENCE]
A complete remake of one of their best selling trucks of all time! 1950 OR 1967-72 Maybe?
[END DREAM SEQUENCE]

Bill

Re: Chevrolet {100 years}

yeah i think the SSR was the last one they tried to make special before that was the 454 truck, i believe that was a 270 hp dog if i remember correctly. Chevy doesn't realize the amount of people on this site that would love to buy a retro 67-72 truck. Guess we will have to wait and see.

The new trucks are already in the $40,000.00 + range now add a specialty model that could push it to the High $50's to $60's ? WOW That's some price to pay for Vanity .IMHO:chevy:

That is a mean car, saw one with a procharger race at gateway dragstrip. Same car that was in car craft or hot rod just a month or so ago

Re: Chevrolet {100 years}

I thought the 2014-2015 Silverado, at least with the projector light option, looked awesome. Now they've restyled it to look like a Colorado. I won't say that's bad, because it's personal choice, but it's even further away from the "fullsize" look of the 2015 trucks.

The good news is that the Chevy Silverado w/ 6.2 is faster than the Raptor, at least :-)
