Long bed to short bed conversion

Hi folks:
Next march My C10 69 longbed stepside and me we'll celebrate 9 years together. Since then I always have said that I would keep it the more original as possible. But I think I need to convert it to short bed, unless some of you said: don't do it!!!!!!!
I've heard that longbed are not apreciated as a short bed but I don't care.
if I convert it to short anyways won't be appreciated because will not be original.
the reason moves me to short it is because I don't have enough space at my garage as you can see at the piucture

I don't know how much space I'll have if is converted to short.
Now: I understand the bed will need to be cuted, but; question: instead of cut the stepsides and the side panels of the bed, and I think trailing arms are these parts availble?http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...psdi7lrjtr.jpg

Thank you

That the truck fits in the garage is a nice plus for the short bed. The long bed and short bed truck arms are all the same length. Just going to take 12" out of the frame in front of the axle and 6-8" off the end of the frame.

Have you considered cutting a fleetside bed? Those long steppers are like a four leaf clover

Forget about cutting that bed there are just way to many short step beds to be had cheap , Also you'll need a new drive shaft, parking brake cables, etc .:chevy:

I looked forever for a long step before settling on a short.

I used No limits Rear rail kit to go from a long to short bed truck. I didn't have to lift or remove the cab. I only had to raise the bed floor 4". It's a nice and simple kit. Everything bolts on.

FWIW,
Wow, I can't speak for anyone else but I haven't seen a long stepper in that good of shape in at least 15 years. Short fleets and steppers are everywhere. I bet you could find a rust free short step bed out there.
Also, there's a thread on this forum that goes into specific details about how and where to cut the frame. It can be done in a weekend if you know what your doing.
Good luck with your project.

Go find one that someone has already taken apart and is now left sitting to rot. It will save you a boatload of labor (time = $$) also. You'll still have your truck to enjoy while you work on your project.
You'll find some pretty motivated sellers wanting to get their garage/driveway space back.
