Helping a friend

Not mine. Friend is wanting to know if he should restore or sell. He's wanting estimates of value as it sits so he can decide. 305, rebuilt trans, runs, been used as a ranch truck. Please let me know what you think.

Re: Helping a friend
Here that would be a very nice truck to restore ,looks like no rust .I dont know what its worth but if it were mine I would try to restore it .

Re: Helping a friend
Depends on how deep he wants to go into "restoring" honestly. If everything mechanical is good and running, it needs some TLC cleanup. You can get ALOT of very nice things from junkyards that would save on your buddies budget.
If he plans to keep it awhile then work on it slowly and you'll have a nice truck in the end. A nice cleanup and a set of rims and tires REALLY change how things look. Interior; shampoo the carpet and dye the door panels and dash if they're not sun baked. Let us know what he decides. |
Re: Helping a friend
What it will sell for depends on how strong the market is in your area and the demand.
That truck would sell for around 1500 to 2000 depending on how mechanically sound it is in many parts of the country. But it could possibly be worth more to someone in the rust belt as areas of rust through are minimized if it has been in NM its whole life. |
Re: Helping a friend
To help with an idea on value, I bought an almost identical truck last month. Same color, trim package, condition, but 2wd. Guy had it listed for $1500 for quite a while and it never sold. Paid $700.

Re: Helping a friend
I think it would be worth pretty decent money in the rust belt areas. Not much around here unless you find the right buyer. That being said, I had a friend get $3500 for one with nicer paint. Not a quality paint job by any means but it was shiny.
