Before we try to start the 1966 Viking diesel....
My friend inherited a 66 Viking with a Detroit Diesel engine. We would like to fire it up and see if it runs although we are not sure when it was last running.
The engine does rotate so it is not seized but what can we do to get some oil circulating in the engine? Spray a bit of wd 40 into the cylinders, take off the valve cover and pour some oil on the moving parts? Thanks for any suggestions I may be unaware of. |

Disconnect the fuel relay and crank it to build oil pressure.

if it is a detroit need to take off the valve cover and make sure the rack is loose. should clamp a pair of vise grip on the rack so you can shut it down if it starts to run away.
