What's this cable coming from my gearbox?

So, looking around in my truck, I found this loose cable coming from my gearbox.

I was told the gearbox is a TH400 but havent been able to confirm this... (I'm also trying to find an engine number but nowhere to be seen)

anyway.. this cable was loose and sitting on top of the engine, it goes back to the gearbox, not sure if its noticeble on these photos...?
does anyone know what this is? And where/how to connect it to?

you can see the cable here, just to the left of the carb, as it looks going into the engine, but its only resting there.

Thats a TH350 and the cable is the kick down/detent cable it hooks to the foot feed

1 Attachment(s)
"kicks" the transmission into passing gear at wide open throttle.

The engine is a 350 Buick. I think the engine number is on the block behind the alternator. You may have to pull it of to see it.
