Ad running boards on S10 frame
 

Anyone have pictures of setting up the running board brackets on a S10 frame. I need some good ideas.

I made mine from 1"/2" tubing. I drilled and tapped plates for the running boards and welded the plates on the running boards. So they bolt to the running boards and bolt to the frame. Easily removable. Took some time fitting but I'm happy the way they turned out.

Fred, there are several builds on this site that show how they did the running board brackets. Check the S10 swap how to post #78 (first link below) and then check post #17 on the second link. The brackets in the 1st link are "homemade" and the ones in the second link are the stock brackets cut down to fit the S10 frame. There are many others but most use the same principle as these two. I've been needing to get back out to the garage and work on my truck some. Running are next on my list. I really like this idea, I think it would a quick way to get them installed and lined up. Thanks for posing!

So I stole chopit's design. Then I saw how fredscarryall did his in his build, which was much easier.

The only advantage for me in the the way I did it, I think, is that it made it easy to get the boards lined up. My boards were warped like hell. They had been patched by the previous owner, which I think contributed to the warping. The bracket I made up straightened them out.

It definitely worked out well...couple more pics.

I learned that if you keep the bar parallel to the outside of the running board, then your two mounts can be of the same length...this ended up working out by dumb luck for me. My forward mount is mounted just behind the splice on the frame, nice flat spot. The rearward mount is forward of the rear of the cab.

You can see I had to clamp the running boards down to my welding bench because they were warped so bad.
