? on 4x operation/shifting
I've a '73 3/4 ton GMC with a granny low then 3 more forward gears and manual locking hubs.
Of course I drive normally in 2 wd high My question is when pulling my boat out of the water and up the ramp can I (while stopped) shift into 4 wl and use granny low without locking the hubs, without doing any damage? It makes sense to me this is safe but I'd like to see what a few posters say about it. This would be just to the top of the ramp. I want to know what I can and can't do with this fine new toy - thanks |
Re: ? on 4x operation/shifting
I have an 82 4 x4 with the same standard trans as yours. I do that all the time. Have never had a problem. Do believe I have a different transfer case, not sure if that makes a difference.

Re: ? on 4x operation/shifting
Your t-case should be an NP205. No issues with running in low without front hubs locked in.
