Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
Today:
What's my truck insured for? "$220 a year." No, I mean what's the replacement/actual value it's insured for? "Depends on the blue book value" Yeah sure, check on that will you? It's not in there, quits at 2000. What a surprise. I'll have to have an adjuster call you back. Adjuster calls,, still doesn't know and says "we'll have to call you back." |

Re: Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
Heacock Ins. on the GMC, Nova & Blazer listed in my sig. Specified value on each, $554 a yr. total. Hopefully I'll never need 'em. OH, recently they paid for Safelite to fix a rock chip on the GMC's windshield.. no deductible.

Re: Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
If anyone happens to know, while recommending a company, if that company will insure an unpainted truck, please include that.
Hagerty wont insure an unfinished vehicle. Or, at least, they're website says this after entering my information. I will DD my truck, it's currently ugly with tons of money into it. It still needs good insurance. Thanks |
Re: Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
Well Heacock wont work for me. Says it MUST be stored in a garage and NOT be daily driven. :( I'm sure that wont be a problem for most of you though :)

Hagerty ... so far they have been easy to deal with. I meet with their adjuster this morning.
I have an agreed replacement value. Repair - they will spend up to about 70% of stated value. Body shop of my choice - free towing - no deductible. Yes - Chevy's are indeed tornado tough :metal: |
Re: Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
All three of my Street Rods are through Grundy. Agreed value on each. Grundy also takes Daily drivers and late models now.

Re: Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
Hagerty..
While I have never had to make a claim, they have been the best to deal with, and I have had an "Unfinished" car insured for years. It has no motor and is not insured for road use but we have an agreed value, that is more than fair. I was insuring 3 cars with them before, and when I insured the project car it almost cost me nothing because it bumped me up to a multi car discount. All of the 4 cars I have insured are classic cars. None of my cars are GTO's, SS Camaros, Vettes, or anything really high dollar.. just classic cars. For example my k-20 is more of a driver, rust on the rockers cab corners ect.. I don't think I could insure it through them (mainly just the classics that are solid, restored or collector cars, ) Call them up tell them what you have, they will be able to give you a pretty good idea over the phone. |

Re: Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
I haven't yet insured my 72 K10 ( because it's not finished ) but I've been using Hagerty for my 67 Chevelle. I think I pay right around $200 yearly for $25,000 agreed value. Luckily I haven't had to make any claims, so really can't comment in that department. I would think any of the Classic car insurer's would be good though. I have my daily drivers and home owners through State Farm and would never even think of using them for a classic vehicle

Re: Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
I had insurance through midwest classic insurance on my 1994 Corvette, it was stated value for $17,000 and it only cost me $150 a year, 6k mile cap, and I could drive it to work 30 days a year. Only licensed drivers 26 or older could drive it.had to sign exclusions on all the kids.....no deductible either. Robin and his staff really go out of their way to help too.
My family had State farm for 20+ years, when I totalled my 89' grand am in 1990, they would only pay "current market value" on the loss, I ended up having to pay $4500 on a car I would never drive again, needless to say, they got the axe the next day....and everything I own (that's financed) today has "gap" or depreciation clause on it for that very reason.fool me once..... never again. You know, try as I might, I never could put 6k miles on that Vette in a years time, so I'd be fine with a 6k mileage cap on my truck... Have a good one! Ben :metal: |

Re: Who do you recommend to insure your jewel?
I have used State Farm for years on other vehicles, house, etc. But when I tried to insure my Super with an agreed value, they said they could only do that if it were insured as a "classic". I said, okay, it's certainly a classic, sign me up... only to have them ask if I planned on working on it.
Me: Sure, of course, there's always something to do. SF: Well then, we can't insure it. For "classic car" insurance, it has to be completely "done". Me: Whatever that means. And that's where I left it. I will look into Hagarty soon, I am inspired by 70cst's tornado story... |

Update:
Hagerty Rocks! The adjuster (Mark) came out today to look at the Circuit Rider. Mark took pics and we discussed the repair process. I suggested going to my local Chevy Body Shop. Mark said if "that's" what I really want but he suggested going to The Egyptian Body Shop. He said most body shops are not prepared to fix this type of damage properly and they will use bondo/fiberglass. Mark said these dents need to be heated and beat out and then use lead to get the contours perfect. Mark also said he wanted to be sure the paint matched perfectly. He said Hagerty isn't concerned about being cheap but -- having it done right. Looks like the repair cost will be close to $18,000 I mentioned I found a NOS bumper for $400 plus the ride. Mark said buy it and they will pay total expense in getting the bumper back to my place. Same for my torn truck cover. Looks like I will be getting a new California Cover or something similar. They will pay up to $350 for the truck cover. I cannot be happier with Hagerty. http://egyptianbody.com/ |
